Concealing Waves
Series of 3
Concealing Waves explores the captivating visual dynamics of abstract forms, revealing and obscuring in a way that echoes the rhythmic ebb and flow of ocean waves. This series began as an exploration of these dynamics, and that idea lingered in my mind for quite a while before I was able to discover its final form. The final design, with its multi-angled composition, emerged only after multiple iterations involving potential shapes and their placement. The final product became a trio because I ended up loving multiple versions of what I designed, each offering a unique perspective on the central theme.
These variations each have their own unique character due to my deliberate manipulation of color repetition. Rather than adhering to a uniform color progression, I experimented with different arrangements, showcasing how subtle shifts in palette can dramatically alter the overall impact. This playful approach to color allows each abstract piece to stand independently, while still maintaining a cohesive connection to the series. The color story evokes the vibrant hues of tropical waters with a conscious effort to avoid darker tones to ensure a sense of lightness and buoyancy. The result is a visually stimulating experience, encouraging the viewer to explore the depths of its intricate patterns and the subtle nuances of its color relationships.
