Cosmic Gemstones

Cosmic Gemstones, an early work from my hand-patterning period, is deeply inspired by the mesmerizing facets of cut gemstones and my love of pink and purple hues. In this piece, the contrasting dark and light background makes the vibrant geometric shapes truly pop, creating a visually dynamic and captivating composition that draws the eye into its intricate depths. The interplay of colors in the background and the patterned surface enhances the three-dimensionality of the design, evoking the sparkling brilliance of a cluster of gems.

This artwork also represents a pivotal moment in my artistic journey. It was created during a time when I was fully immersed in the process of hand-patterning, meticulously tracing each pattern piece with careful attention to detail before cutting it out. Due to a measurement error during the cutting process, the top of the piece features incomplete squares. Embracing this unexpected outcome, I allowed the art to evolve organically, turning a mistake into a unique design element that adds a sense of spontaneity and imperfection to the otherwise precise geometry. Cosmic Gemstones holds a special place in my heart as a testament to finding my artistic groove, embracing the beauty of imperfection, and realizing how chance can influence the final artwork.
