Flitting About

The Flitting About series is a set of vibrant and dynamic pieces, born from the simple idea of a single piece. Its original colorful palette was inspired by the delicate hues of blooming flowers. This initial exploration of color and form celebrates the inherent beauty of natural floral arrangements, focusing on a vivid palette of pinks, yellows, and greens.

The patterns, derived from dividing up a simple right triangle, evolved during the creative process, revealing the potential for a reflected variation. Unable to choose between the two distinct visual directions, I embraced both, resulting in a duo that explores the dynamic interplay of a single design element. My affinity for complementary colors led me to experiment with a different color scheme, this one featuring a bold and energetic interplay of oranges, blues, and purples. In the end, I felt that both pattern arrangements and color palettes worked well, leading to a series of four.

The resulting series showcases the contrasting yet harmonious forces of nature. Two pieces evoke the softness and grace of floral blooms, capturing their quiet elegance and subtle color variations. The other two capture the energetic and lively essence of dancing flames. This duality celebrates the diverse beauty found in the natural world, from the tranquil serenity of a garden to the untamed power of fire.
