Floral Triangulation

The Floral Triangulation series is inspired by the multifaceted beauty of flowers – their vibrant colors, the repetition of their petal patterns, and their ever-shifting appearance from different perspectives. This series of began with sketches where the pattern was initially much simpler in design, bearing little resemblance to its final abstract floral form.

Through experimentation with pattern placement, I discovered that arranging four identical shapes in varying configurations could yield a multitude of distinct designs. A monochromatic color palette in each piece that follows a similar color progression unites the series, featuring highly saturated hues concentrated in the center, gradually fading to white at the top left and bottom right corners.

The creation of this handcrafted floral art series was a labor of love, involving the meticulous cutting of thousands of tiny paper triangles, each a mere 1 inch tall and ¼ inch wide. The gluing process was equally demanding, requiring precision and patience. The final result, with its rich array of colors and intricate arrangements, brings me immense joy. I'm particularly pleased with the choice of a bright background, which allows the paler colors to truly pop.
