Woven Rows

Individual Piece

A yellow pink grey geometric art, woven pattern, paper design.

Woven Rows in Pink, Yellow, and Gray is an early exploration of layering and pattern in my artistic development. In this piece, I found the contrast of angles created by the overlapping design to be particularly engaging and visually dynamic. The unexpected combination of pink, yellow, and gray was intuitive; these were the colors that simply spoke to me at the time, evoking a sense of retro modernism.

In an effort to minimize waste and explore further design possibilities, I finished the top and bottom of the composition with a small triangles, utilizing some of my scrap materials. This adds another layer of complexity and visual interest to the design.

Woven Rows in Pink, Yellow, and Gray is also unique in my body of work for its circular background design. While most of my pieces feature linear backgrounds, I decided to explore this alternative approach. To this day, I'm still not sure how I feel about this decision, as it deviates from my typical geometric style. However, I'm glad I experimented with it, as it adds a surprising element of softness and contrast to the overall composition. The circular background creates a focal point and enhances the layered geometric patterns in the foreground.
